College of Calgary

Launched in 1966, the college has approximately 28,000 students now, including 900 international students from 87 countries, also provides over 100 applications in post-secondary schooling.

Between 5,000 and 7,000 pupils graduate in the college each year.

The college is just one of those 17 Networks of Centers of Excellence, designed to enhance Canada’s economy and the standard of life of its own people.

The college campus spreads within 213 hectares and homes 17 faculties, 53 departments and over 30 research centres. The notable faculties comprise the Haskayne School of company and the Schulich School of Engineering. The college would be Calgary’s fourth biggest employer, with over 2,500 full-time equal support staff.

The undergraduate students’ paper is The Gauntlet. The college is now home to the CJSW radio channel, playing 90.9 FM.

The motto of this college will be Mo Shùile Togam Suas, philosophical for”I’ll lift my eyes up”. The college’s mascot is Rex, a dinosaur. In Canadian Interuniversity Sport, the college is currently represented from the Calgary Dinos. The campus houses the Olympic Oval, also a covered speed skating oval constructed for the 1988 Winter Olympics, where it was called”the fastest ice in the world.”

Their famous alumni include James Gosling, the inventor of this most popular Java programming language, that graduated in computer engineering in 1977, and Stephen Harper, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. At last count, 37 CEOs at Calgary were alumni in the college.
