“I know my Indian fans are disappointed after the Semi-Final defeat against New Zealand this Cricket World Cup 2019. I think this is not the right time to retire from this team. Fans please don’t worry, I will play the 2020 ICC Cricket T20 World Cup in Australia and make India proud. Keep supporting team India.”

This fake tweet has been shared over 12,000 times and has left Dhoni’s fans super-excited for ICC’s next mega event in 2020.

But in reality, there’s no such statement made by Dhoni regarding him playing the 2020 T20 World Cup. To confirm the authenticity of the claim, we checked Dhonis official twitter account but found he didn’t tweet after May 6. No such update is available on his Twitter and Facebook accounts as well.

In the meantime, supporters and famous Indian personalities have continued their emotional appeal for Dhoni. Dhoni has been told not to retire by the legendary Indian captain Kapil Dev and other senior players. On the other side, Virender Sehwag, a retired Indian batsman, said it’s upon Dhoni when he wants to retire or not.
