Ranchi: A special CBI court on Wednesday convicted 16 accused in that the multi-million-rupee fodder scam case and condemned them for conditions ranging from three to four years.
According into a government attorney, the special CBI court of Judge S.N. Mishra detained the 16 accused for deceptive withdrawal of Rs 37 crore in the Chaibasa treasury.
The court sentenced 11 of these to 3 years and five other people to four years in jail. The special CBI court had detained former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad and Jagannath Mishra in exactly the same case in 2013.
Besides Prasad and Mishra, 42 additional accused have been convicted in that the case.
Those given jail conditions on Wednesday comprised former treasury messenger and technical assistant Lal Mohan Gope, ex-account helper of their treasury Bharateshwar Narain Lal Das and also ex-assistant accountant of their treasury Sahadeo Prasad, all workers of this Chaibasa treasury if the scam was discovered, the defence counsel stated.
Das, Prasad, Gope three former workers of this district treasury office in Chaibasa have been given three years years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 35,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.
The 13 other people who have been jailed are personal providers.
The CBI had registered a supplementary chargesheet against 20 individuals as they hadn’t been contained in the initial collection of accused because of not becoming sanction, the attorney said.
While one individual is absconding, others died during the trial, the counselor said.
The CBI filed the chargesheet from the 16 later. Fourteen of these provided fodder and 2 were police officers.
CBI courts have delivered judgment in 42 cases linked to this fodder scam.
