One arrested in BJP worker murder case in Bengal

Kolkata: A 25-year-old childhood was arrested after a guy believed to be a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporter was shot dead in West Bengal’s Nadia district after the announcement of this Lok Sabha election results, authorities said on Sunday.

Santu Ghosh was taken outside his house Chakdaha on Friday night and has been declared brought dead in a hospital. A political blame-game about the problem has erupted between the BJP and Trinamool Congress.

“Bharat Biswas, 25, alias Pochan was arrested on Saturday. He was produced at the court on Sunday,” stated a senior officer of Nadia district.

Asked if the incident has some political connection, the officer stated the police “didn’t find any political connection in the preliminary stage” of investigations to the murder.

While being taken to court, Biswas told colleagues he was present in the place on the afternoon of the murder but was active surfing on his cell phone.

“I fled from the area when a boy named Laltu shot Shantu. I was very scared,” he explained.

“The accused was known to the deceased. As for the rest, everything is under investigation,” the officer stated.

Claiming which Ghosh had defected from Trinamool Congress, BJP activists blocked a national highway and railroad tracks for approximately two hours Saturday, causing significant disruption of rail services in that the Sealdah branch.

BJP state unit leader Dilip Ghosh also promised the dead party worker was targeted by the Trinamool since he’d worked hard for its saffron party throughout the Lok Sabha polls.

When inquired about the episode, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blamed it upon infighting in that the BJP.
