Kolkata: The semi-decomposed bodies of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Minister Moloy Ghatak’s sister-in-law and niece were retrieved from West Bengal’s Asansol region, authorities said on Tuesday.
A police officer stated they received advice about foul odor emanating from a home in Hindustan Park and recovered the bodies of Jayashri Ghatak, 61, also Nilam Ghatak, 38, on Monday.
He stated their post-mortem report was awaited.
“As per initial investigation, there was no indication of foul play,” the officer included.
The Minister’s brother Ashim Ghatak expired a couple of decades back by drowning. The two victims were identified as Ashim Ghatak’s spouse and daughter.
Asked when the Minister had lodged a complaint, the police officer stated: “They were relatives of the Minister, so members from his family were present during the police procedure.”
