Quebec reports one new coronavirus-related death, over 140 more cases

The Quebec government revealed that the province’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 56,467 after announcing one more death and 141 new known cases on Friday morning.

According to Santé Quebec, there are now 57,142 cases in the province, 260 hospitalizations, and 14 patients in the ICU.

Currently, a reported 668,020 tests have turned up negative throughout Quebec, and over 30,000 cases have been resolved.

The new data had been reported by hospitals and public health officials as of Thursday, July 16, at 6 pm. Santé Quebec says this is the sixth day in a row in which more than 100 cases have been reported.

The provincial public health authority says that despite the new cases, hospitalizations continue to drop.

Canada’s coronavirus death toll now totals 8,827.
