Barabanki: 18 individuals died after consuming spurious liquor in Barabanki, that the District Magistrate has verified.
“18 people died in this incident. Besides this, families of four individuals are saying they also died after drinking spurious liquor. We have ensured that those in the hospital get good treatment. We have deployed 39 ambulances if patients needed to refer to other hospitals,” Barabanki District Magistrate Uday Bhanu Tripathi told colleagues on Thursday.
“Some people are also coming to hospitals for treatment in fear as they used to drink spurious liquor. We are in touch with hospital and administration is helping the victims,” he explained.
On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated stern action will be taken against the accused and authorized officials of the excise department to research the circumstance.
Uttar Pradesh Police had detained Pappu Jaiswal, the primary accused, following an experience on Wednesday. The authorities had arrested three other detained in relationship with the situation.
The state government has announced that the settlement of Rs two lakh each for individuals who lost their lives in the catastrophe.
In February, ingestion of spurious illegal liquor had claimed the lives of more than 70 individuals in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, forcing government officials to establish a significant crackdown to nab those responsible for its supply of illegal liquor in the nations and its neighboring areas. While 13 individuals lost their lives in Uttarakhand, the death toll in Uttar Pradesh almost touched 60.
