Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh STF detained two interstate smugglers last night and captured 300 cartons of prohibited liquor in their ownership.
The two detained — Ram Kumar Jogi and Naushad were detained from Lucknow National Highway.
This comes after a few deaths were reported from the country as a result of spurious liquor.
According to authorities, approximately 300 cartons of liquor values Rs 30 lakhs, also Rs. 1780 in cash were recovered by the accused.
On being interrogated, the accused disclosed they were included in large scale smuggling of liquor from Haryana and Punjab. This was subsequently provided in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
