Washington: French actor Marion Cotillard has been roped into the cast of Leos Carax’s ‘Annette’ alongside Adam Driver of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ fame.
According to Variety, Charles Gillibert’s CG Cinema has come on board to help revive the on-again-off-again project, which will go on floors in mid-August. CAA Media Finance brokered the deal with Amazon for release of the film in the US.
Tracing the rise and fall of two star-crossed Hollywood lovers (Cotillard and Driver) and the exceptional destiny of their daughter, ‘Annette’ will bring together the rock band ‘Sparks’, which is composing original songs and celebrated music producer Marius de Vries, known for his work in ‘La La Land,’ ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Cats’.
The film was first announced in 2016 with another French producer but failed to get off the ground as financing was not in place.
CG Cinema’s current films in their bucket include Assayas’ ‘Wasp Network,’ a Cuba-set spy thriller produced with RT Features, starring Penelope Cruz, Pedro Pascal and Edgar Ramirez, which just wrapped up shooting and is being sold by Orange Studio.
Meanwhile, Cotillard has left Jessica Chastain’s spy-thriller ‘355’ which was announced last year at Cannes.
On the other hand, Driver’s recent project ‘The Dead Don’t Die’, which is helmed by Jim Jarmusch, became the opening film at Cannes on Tuesday.
