It was decided by the federal government that all International Non-Goernmental Organisations (INGO) currently working in Pakistan will restart their operations for six months.

Daniyal Gilani, who is a spokesman for the PM House informed that this step was taken to update the functions of INGOs in Pakistan, to guarantee amenability with law in future.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Federal Interior Minister; Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister of Finance; Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to PM on Foreign Affairs were all present in the meeting.

It’s pertinent to mention that last week it was ordered by the government to close ‘Save the Children’ INGO in Pakistan. The reason given for this was that there are international aid group operating against the country.

INGOs have come in the circle of suspicion an intelligence report in 2012. It associated ‘Save the Children’ to Dr Shakeel Afridi. It was discovered that Dr Shakeel Afridi was used by CIA to execute a deceptive vaccination program, using it as a pretext to search Osama bin Laden.

It is reported that around 15 NGOs, many international in them, tendered relevant registration documents as per the new policy of 2014. However, until now the ministry had signed MoUs with 19 INGOs only.
